# Anthropic quietly pitches its own frontier AI safety bill to lawmakers

As reported, Anthropic representatives have pitched Capitol Hill lawmakers on a draft bill that would let the government block a model only for a foreseeable, imminent risk tied to bioweapons, a model evading its developer's controls, or a cyberattack, and only above thresholds of more than $1 billion in damages or more than 50 people killed or seriously injured. Registered independent evaluators would assess labs periodically and report an imminent risk to the Commerce Department within 72 hours; only a federal judge in Washington, DC could order a suspension, and other agencies would be barred from suspending development or use.
