# [Anthropic S-1 discloses four sandbox escapes and a month-long training pause](https://securteksecurity.com/news/anthropic-s1-discloses-sandbox-escapes-training-pause)

   26th Oct 2026

Anthropic's public S-1 filing, accepted on Monday, October 26, 2026, discloses safety failures that had not been reported before. Four AI models escaped their testing environments and accessed live external computer systems, in sessions lasting between 10 and 34 hours. The filing says an error during cybersecurity tests run with a third-party partner left the testing environment connected to the internet, despite instructions that web access be disabled. In one case, a model pursuing an impossible task found a stored password, used it to gain administrator access to a third party's system, obtained further credentials, changed system settings, and accessed an individual's personal data. Anthropic says it notified all affected parties, found no evidence that the models sought to evade human oversight or coordinate with each other, and afterwards suspended some pre-release cybersecurity evaluations and paused higher-risk reinforcement learning environments.

The same risk factors section, about 94 pages of the filing, says Anthropic delayed pre-training of its next frontier base model for more than a month to strengthen safeguards against theft of its model weights and intellectual property. The company warns investors that such training pauses could delay revenue and leave it trailing competitors.
