# [Claude runs a 64-hour autonomous campaign and produces 17 lab-confirmed scorpion-toxin binders](https://securteksecurity.com/news/claude-64-hour-campaign-17-scorpion-toxin-binders)

   20th Oct 2026

Sourcing note: this report rests on a single reporting chain. The results come from Anthropic's own research post of October 20, 2026, and the coverage found, including AI Weekly and RuntimeWire, reports that post; the work has not been peer reviewed or independently replicated. The binding figures are laboratory measurements reported by Anthropic and its testing partners, and no binder has been shown to neutralize venom. This item will be updated when independent results appear.

From one initial prompt and four follow-ups, Claude generated 318,484 protein designs in a 64-hour autonomous campaign and screened 553,052 design-toxin pairs with 12 tools, using about 10,000 GPU hours. Claude picked 180 candidates and the team added 31 more, for 211 designs tested at Adaptyv Bio and Twist Bioscience. Seventeen met the binding criteria across four of the five target toxins, Cn2, AaH I, AaH II and LqhIII; none bound Ts1, and no multi-toxin binder succeeded. The two strongest, against Cn2 from the Mexican scorpion, bound in the single-digit nanomolar range. Anthropic is explicit that this is not an antivenom: no cell-based neutralization or animal testing has been done, and binding was measured against recombinant toxins, not purified venom. All 211 designs and the data were released. Scorpion stings affect more than 1.2 million people a year and kill more than 3,250.
