# [Elvis Presley rightsholders sue Anthropic over 274 songs](https://securteksecurity.com/news/elvis-presley-rightsholders-sue-anthropic-274-songs)

Authentic Brands Group and other owners of Elvis Presley's music sued Anthropic on October 23, 2026, alleging the company trained Claude on 274 Presley compositions and lyrics without permission. The complaint also alleges Anthropic bypassed digital rights management protections and removed or altered copyright management information on 247 of the songs. The plaintiffs seek $150,000 per work, about $41 million in total.

Anthropic told NBC News it disagrees with the claims and intends to defend the case fully. The suit is among the first major copyright actions against an AI company centered on a single artist's catalog, following the label and publisher cases already pending against Anthropic and other AI firms.
