Meta has paused the conversation sharing feature in Muse, its AI agent launched September 8, 2026, after security firm Claroc found more than 6,800 shared Muse conversations listed by readable conversation title in public passive DNS records. Muse built each share hostname from the conversation title plus a random ID, and shared pages opened without a login, so a passive DNS search returned the hostnames like a table of contents and the links could be rebuilt from them. Claroc, which named the findable shares GhostShares in research published October 18, 2026, opened a few hundred: among them a national marketing company's internal revenue review, a small business loan application, a bank fraud alert with a partial account number, a real estate investor's internal performance report and a workplace's full year staff vacation calendar. Claroc said it has no evidence anyone misused the shares.

Claroc reported the issue to Meta's bug bounty program on October 8, 2026. Meta told Ars Technica it had paused the functionality while it reviews the report and considers changes to how the links can be discovered. In Claroc's October 20, 2026 recheck, none of 40 previously open shares opened, although the hostnames and conversation titles remain in passive DNS history.
