# [OpenAI launches GPT-6.1 Terra at half price, with faster computer-use agents](https://securteksecurity.com/news/openai-launches-gpt-6-1-terra-half-price)

OpenAI launched GPT-6.1 Terra on Monday, October 26, 2026, a mid-tier model built for computer use, visual reasoning, coding, and everyday work, at $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens through the API. That is 50 percent below the pricing of GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol. Terra is live now in ChatGPT Work and Codex for Plus, Pro, Enterprise, and Edu users, and through the API. OpenAI says the model completes tasks more than three times faster than GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol, and that its internal error rate at low reasoning effort fell from 53.6 percent with GPT-5.6 Terra to 16.7 percent.

Independent benchmarking by Artificial Analysis puts Terra 6 Intelligence Index points above its predecessor at maximum effort, at less than a third of the cost per task, and 4 points below GPT-6.1 Sol. It records a gain of about 20 points on Terminal-Bench 4.0, to 50.3 percent in OpenAI's own figures, and a 50 point drop in the hallucination rate on its AA-Omniscience benchmark, alongside a 2 point increase in accuracy. OpenAI still recommends Sol or Astra for the most complex coding work.
