   17th Oct 2026

The White House Super Intelligence task force, at its first meeting on October 15, 2026, agreed to have FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson lead its law enforcement and consumer protection coordination committee, which includes the Justice Department. The task force also agreed to commission a President's Council of Advisers on Science and Technology report on AI risks to cybersecurity, critical infrastructure, and biosecurity, and War Department undersecretary Emil Michael will build protocols for companies to notify the government of hacks and other incidents. An FTC spokesman told the Daily Caller News Foundation that Ferguson is honored to be chosen and will work to maintain US super intelligence dominance while protecting Americans.

Coverage of the meeting outcomes so far rests on a single reporting chain, Semafor's reporting carried by the Daily Caller and PYMNTS, alongside the FTC's existing civil investigative demands to OpenAI and Anthropic; this item will be updated as the task force publishes its charter or the agencies confirm the assignments in their own releases.
