Anthropic grants evaluator METR employee-level access, with publication rights
Anthropic said on October 15 that it has granted six staff from the nonprofit evaluator METR employee-level access to its systems, including company hardware, office space, and internal tools broadly comparable to those used by its own risk teams. METR will independently assess Anthropic's advanced models, safety practices, and risk management.
Anthropic cannot veto METR's publications. METR may publish its assessments without prior approval, subject only to limited redactions for customer data, privileged information, and some model architecture details, and it may publicly question those redactions. METR sits at the top of a three-tier evaluator access system Anthropic is building, above narrower reviewers such as SecureBio.
