Claude Mythos 5 redesigns quantum circuits, cutting gate counts up to 17x
Anthropic reports that Claude Mythos 5, working in a generator and judge loop with formal verification in Lean, redesigned eight quantum circuit tasks from plain-language specifications. Seven of the eight reduced both Toffoli gate counts and qubit counts against the best published designs. The eighth, an elliptic-curve point-addition circuit, used about 12 percent more qubits (935 against 838) for roughly 17 times fewer gates (4 million against 70 million), in a single 53-hour run.
Sourcing note: these results rest on Anthropic's own research announcement and outlets reporting it. They are circuit resource estimates, not runs on quantum hardware, and independent replication is not yet available.
