Four Gemini 4 Argon agents beat Minecraft end to end, autonomously

Four general purpose coding agents running Google Gemini 4 Argon were dropped into a randomly generated Minecraft survival world with a single goal, defeat the Ender Dragon, and no assigned roles, strategies or game specific tools, in a paper posted on October 15, 2026 and reported on October 18. The agents organised themselves through in game chat and a shared memory, split tasks, warned each other about threats, recovered dead teammates items and logged their own mistakes. The authors say this is, to their knowledge, the first end to end autonomous completion of Minecraft using only the standard Mineflayer library.

The run took 27 hours 14 minutes, with 2,783 JavaScript programs written, 229 chat messages and 605 deaths, at a session cost of $1,620 at the standard Argon price taking effect in 2027, according to The Decoder. The result is one successful run on easy difficulty, with no reported success rate across attempts.
