Google AI news licensing program passes 400 publications, with CNN, the FT, and Axios joining
Google said on October 15 that its AI news licensing program now includes more than 400 publications worldwide. CNN, the Financial Times, and Axios are among the newest partners to license enhanced content rights for Google to build generative AI features, with payment, attribution, and direct links; financial terms were not disclosed.
The program began as a pilot in December 2025 with partners including The Washington Post. For CNN, this is its first such partnership since the Paramount Skydance acquisition closed.
