OpenAI will sell its frontier models and Codex through Google Cloud
OpenAI will make its frontier models, including GPT-6 Astra, and its Codex coding agent available through Google Cloud's Model Garden in the coming weeks, the companies announced on October 21, 2026. Customers will be able to purchase the models through Google Cloud Marketplace against existing Google Cloud spending commitments, with Google Cloud's access controls and data governance tools pitched to regulated industries building agentic workflows. OpenAI models are also to become available in Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent.
Google is the latest hyperscaler to distribute OpenAI models since OpenAI's exclusive distribution arrangement with Microsoft expired in April, following Amazon Web Services. Microsoft remains OpenAI's primary cloud partner. Reuters notes that, according to Anthropic's IPO filing, 47 percent of Anthropic's 2025 revenue came through Amazon and Google cloud channels, a measure of how central the hyperscalers have become as the commercial channel for frontier labs.
